Theme, The Green & Everything In-Between

57 kilometres of stunning coastline; the largest concentration of theme parks in the Southern Hemisphere; a shopping mecca and world-heritage listed natural wonders that will blow your mind. We’ll take a one-way ticket please!

From tourist hot-spots to tight-lipped local secrets; there’s more than one way to get the most from the coast – we say a healthy dose of everything is best: Turf with a dash of surf; majestic mountains mixed with metre maids; scream machines and wild animal encounters; epic eats, five-class spa spoils and a thriving nightlife famous for fun. Here’s Harbour Town’s guide to the Gold Coast theme parks, family fun, world-class shopping & golfing!

Parks - Theme Verses Green:

It’s not a trip to the Gold Coast without an adrenaline-soaked theme park hit. Dreamworld is Australia’s biggest and perhaps the nostalgic favourite conveniently located right next door to WhiteWater World. The star attraction here; the majestic tigers of Tiger Island, Dreamworld Corroboree and some of the tallest, fastest thrill rides in the world. Down the road, it’s Hollywood thrills at Warner Bros. MovieWorld and splashtacular spills at Wet n Wild Waterpark. Seaworld is also not to be missed with its incredibly beautiful Shark Bay attraction, playful dolphins, awesome polar bears and family-friendly rides and attractions. For a calmer walk on the wild side - head to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and David Fleay Wildlife Park. The Gold Coast has some great parks and green spaces minus the G-forces! We love The Rock Pools and views at Broadwater Parklands in Southport best but MacIntosh Island Park, Gold Coast Botanic Garden, Paradise Point Parklands and Kurrawa Pratten Park will also give the family a fresh dose of good old fashioned, tree-climbing fun.

Shop Til You Drop:

Time for our favourite sport; relaxation tool; thrill ride and leisure activity, because let’s face it – shopping is everything! First port of call – Harbour Town Outlet Shopping Centre. This is where you’re going to find those hidden gems and designer label trophies you’ll talk about for decades. It’s Australia’s largest Outlet Centre boasting up to seventy percent off brands including Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Furla, Victoria’s Secret, Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein, Coach, Nike, Ralph Lauren, Oroton, Gant, Tigerlily; over 240 stores of discounted goodness; al-la-carte dining and award-winning tourism services. Once you’ve bagged your bargains, head to Pacific Fair Shopping Centre at Broadbeach and Robina Town Shopping Centre for your full-priced retail fix. Now you’ve ticked off the big three, there’s Australia Fair Shopping Centre in Southport, Chevron Renaissance Shopping Centre and a host of gorgeous Gold Coast markets dotted up and down the coast to enjoy.

Because let's face it - shopping is everything!

Extraordinary Family Fun:

From the chic and sophisticated to the weird and wonderful – Surfers Paradise has it all! Feel on top of the world at SkyPoint Observation Deck and get a bird’s eye view of this stunning city at its best. Take things next level with the daring SkyPoint Climb and definitely opt for the sunset session if you can! Down on the ground, get your weird on at Ripley’s Believe It or Not Odditorium or scare yourself silly at Dracula’s Haunted House and Australia’s biggest wax museum, Chamber of Horrors.

For the kids, hit up Infinity Attraction; Strike Bowling, Timezone, Planet Chill Iceskating Rink at Paradise Resort and Sling Shot Gold Coast to watch Dad conquer a local legend, the Vomatron. Get a taste of skydiving in Surfers at the iFLY simulator or tick the real deal off your bucket list with Skydive Australia with some breath-taking ocean views all the way down.

Hot tip: for more fun for the kids, the new Holoverse attraction in Southport is a great holiday filler and a feast for little eyes and for families feeling the need for speed – go Game Over Go Karting in Helensvale; Slideways Go Karting in Carrara or The V8 Supercars Driving Experience.

More great options to jump on? For trampoline parks on steroids filled with serious airtime and kids literally bouncing off the walls, you’ve got Inflatable World, West Burleigh; Bounce at Robina and Air Factory Trampoline Park at Burleigh Heads.
