How to Nail Christmas Cocktails
by Crafty's Sports Bar

Because Christmas is all about one-upping last year’s spread, Crafty’s Sports Bar is here to teach you how to mix and shake it right (and we’re not JUST talking about dance moves) so you can nail these crowd-favourite cocktails and be the hostess with the mostess.

Keeping in theme with Christmas, there’s one red and one green cocktail to master. And because this is Australia, they’re fresh, summery and perfect for those 35-degree poolside days.

THE COSMOPOLITAN BY CRAFTY’S SPORTS BAR:

Prep your station with:

  • A standard shot glass

  • Shaker and strain

  • Vodka

  • Cointreau

  • Cranberry juice

  • Juice of ½ a lime

  • Ice

  • A lime slice for visual effects

  • The most aesthetic cocktail glass you have. We’re talking Carrie Bradshaw vibes. Chilled in the fridge.

Step One

Grab your standard shot glass - these are generally 30ml. Don’t use the oversized pink plastic shot glasses you kept as a momento from your sister’s hens party (unless you want a one-way ticket to the naughty list). Then, pour 45 ml (1 and a ½ shots) of vodka into your shaker.

Step Two

Pour 15 ml (half a shot) of Cointreau into your shaker.

Step Three

Add two shots of cranberry juice (60ml)

Step Four

Squeeze the lime half into the shaker

Step Five

Add ice to the shaker.

Step Six

Shake, shake, shake it to the tune of Jingle Bell Rock. IMPORTANT: Do not shake until you’ve put the top part of the shaker back on. This is a sincere waste of steps 1-5 if missed.

Step Seven

Pour that bad boy through the strainer and into your Carrie Bradshaw martini glass and complete with a bow on top (in this case, the lime slice).

Step Eight

Sip and repeat.

THE CAIPRIOSKA BY CRAFTY’S SPORTS BAR:

Prep your station with:

  • A standard shot glass

  • Shaker, strain and teaspoon

  • Vodka

  • Simple Syrup

  • Sugar

  • 5 lime wedges

  • Ice

  • A chilled short / whiskey glass (or if you have any Tiki glasses laying around, they will certainly do the trick)

Step One

Squeeze the 5 lime wedges into the chilled short / whisky glass. Once squeezed, place the limes in the glass as well.

Step Two

Add 5ml (roughly 1/6th of your shot glass) of simple syrup to the glass.

Step Three

Add a teaspoon of sugar to the glass.

Step Four

Add two shots of vodka (60ml) to the glass.

Step Five

Pour the mixture from your glass into your shaker and add ice.

Step Six

Once again, it’s very important to put the top on the shaker first, and give your cocktail a hearty shake over the shoulder for 10 seconds.

Step Seven

Pour it back into your glass and stir the mixture around with a teaspoon.

Step Eight

If you have any paper or metal straws in your house, this cocktail is best enjoyed through a straw so as to pick up the sugar that settles at the bottom of the glass.

Step Nine

Find any green garnish from your fridge that didn’t make it into this week’s dinner and add it for maximum professional effect.

Step Ten

Grab your shades, roll out the lilo and enjoy your Caiprioska in the pool and let someone else glaze the ham because your work is done here my friend.

Voila!
